Adler Insurance, your local Prescott insurance professional, answers: Can seniors get life insurance?

Adler Insurance specializes in helping Prescott seniors get the insurance coverage they need, including life insurance.
Adler Insurance knows that finding the right insurance coverage for Prescott seniors can get confusing. And many seniors wonder if they are eligible for life insurance. At Adler Insurance, we promise to find the right insurance to fit your particular needs.

We specialize in:
  • Medicare Advantage Insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • Medicare Supplement Insurance
  • Medicare Part D Prescription Drugs
  • Long-Term Care Insurance
For example, term life insurance may be an excellent choice. Depending on the term length, the policy pays a death benefit to your beneficiaries if you pass during the term.

It’s a fact that age plays a significant role in purchasing insurance for seniors. And while there are some age restrictions (varies from company to company), the age limit for life insurance is probably higher than you once thought.

Common age cutoffs are:
  • Age 80 for a 10-year term
  • Age 75 for a 15-year term
  • Age 70 for a 20-year term
  • Age 55 for a 25-year term
  • Age 55 for a 30-year term

Permanent life insurance, generally a more expensive form of insurance, that covers you for the rest of your life is typically limited to 75 or 80 years old. “Final expense”' insurance is sometimes offered to consumers up to 85 years old.

Of course, life insurance gets more expensive as you get older.  But even if you're just past 50 you will probably find the application process a little more complicated than you expected.

The bottom line is that procrastinating on the purchase of insurance can be costly depending on the type of insurance you are buying. If you are age 40 and wait just a decade to buy, your rates could double.  If you want until after 60, you can expect rates to triple!

Are you a senior with questions about purchasing life insurance? Regardless of the type of insurance Prescott seniors may need or want, they can rely on Adler Insurance for a comprehensive and professional review of their situation. Adler Insurance answers whether Medicare will pay for long-term care in Prescott

Will Medicare pay for long-term care in Prescott Info from Adler Insurance
Adler Insurance is a resource to help you understand Medicare and we are here to answer the question, “Will Medicare pay for long-term care in Prescott?” This is a complicated question, and it pays for you to understand prior to being faced with having to make these decisions. The biggest mistake people make is to assume Medicare will take over the financial burden of long-term care in full. While Medicare’s role is limited and sometimes confusing, you can start by understanding some concepts of long-term care.

What is long-term care?

There are two types of long-term care: custodial care and skilled care. Custodial care can be simply defined as care given to people who need help with basic, everyday living, such as getting dressed, cooking meals, bathing, and other basic day-to-day tasks. Skilled care requires medical training and licenses. When it comes to Medicare’s financial involvement, the main question is whether medical/skilled care is required. Medicare does not cover custodial care, but they will help with skilled care.

Over time, long-term care will become more complicated as the need of care changes. The main thing to remember is that Medicare will take part of the financial burden only if the care is prescribed by a doctor and is considered medical care. When a patient requires a nursing home or skilled nursing facility, a general rule of thumb is that Medicare will help for a limited time if 1) the care is recovery and 2) after a hospital stay for at least three days. Medicare will pay anywhere from 80-100% over the course of 100 days. After that, there are supplemental insurance solutions to be considered.

Medicare is certainly limited when it comes to long-term care, but there are other options to be aware of. The main thing is to be prepared and educated prior to the need. The key is to know what parts of long-term care in Prescott that Medicare will pay for, and Adler Insurance can help you navigate these questions. If you and your family are facing these questions now or in the near future, call Adler Insurance at 928-710-1455 and discover more at http://www.adlerlifehealth.com.

Adler Insurance Offers Prescott Seniors Last Minute Medicare Enrollment tips

last minute tips for medicare insurance in Prescott from Adler Insurance
As you may be aware there are only a few days left for seniors to make their 2018 Medicare choices. Adler Insurance, your Prescott area Medicare Broker, would like to remind you of some last-minute tips to help you make your decisions before the Medicare Open Enrollment period ends on December 7, 2017.

Figure out your needs - Take time to review your medical and prescription needs for the upcoming year. Do you foresee having to see a specialist next year? Do you expect higher prescription needs in the coming year? Are you currently undergoing treatment that will continue into the next year. Rather than just comparing your current plan to all of the 2018 choices, you should first determine your needs and see which plans best meets those as far as physicians and drug coverage.

Compare all your options - Many people don’t realize that the original Medicare is not their only choice. It is important to compare not only the original Medicare plan, but also Medicare Advantage Plans offered by private insurance companies. By understanding your personal requirements, it will allow you to make the best choice for your situations.

It’s more than just premium cost - Too often people just look at the monthly premium amount when making their decision about Medicare coverage. But it is important to look past this and also consider the co-pays and deductibles for each plan. You may find that the total out of pocket expenses for the year is actually less with a higher monthly premium because more of your costs are covered directly. For example, if you need to see your physician on a regular basis, does the $20 co-pay of the cheaper plan really save you money over the long run versus the No co-pay of the more expensive plan.

Plan ratings - While this should not be a deciding factor, these ratings should be taken into consideration, since we all want the best healthcare possible. However, if your physician does not participate in a 5 star group, you may choose to find a plan that your doctor does participate with because you know and trust your doctor. Or if a 5 star plan does not cover a prescription you take on a regular basis and another plan does, that may also affect your decision.

If this all seems overwhelming, you are not alone. Because there are changes every year, it is hard for an individual to keep up with all of the options. Thankfully, we are here to help you go through the options and avoid making costly mistakes. To find out more about your choices for Medicare Insurance in Prescott, contact Adler Insurance at 928-710-1455, or on the web at: http://www.adlerlifehealth.com.

Adler Insurance helps Prescott seniors avoid Medicare scams

Adler Insurance offers advice on Medicare Insurance in PrescottIt’s open enrollment time for Medicare eligible seniors and unfortunately it brings out the scammers trying to take your money and your identity. Although there doesn’t seem to be any way to completely get rid of the scammers, but knowing some of their schemes may help you avoid them. Adler Insurance, your local Medicare Insurance Broker serving Prescott, Cottonwood, and Sedona, brings you a short list of a few of the most common Medicare scams.

Issuing New Cards – Medicare does not issue new cards and will not ask for your personal information. If you get a phone call, email or a visit at your home and you are asked for your Medicare number (which is the same as your social security number), your date of birth or other personal information in order to “get your new card”, it’s a scam. What they really want is your identity.

Refunds – Someone contacts you and tells you that you are entitled to a refund on your Medicare premiums because there have been “changes” or “enhancements” to your coverage. They tell you that all they need is your Medicare number and your banking information in order to put your refund directly into your account. It’s a scam. The truth is, if you are entitled to a refund from Medicare, they will send a check directly to you.

Phone calls – Just because your caller ID says “Medicare” or another name you trust, if they ask you for personal information over the phone, it is probably a scam. Government agency normally communicate via traditional mail. If they tell you they’re from Medicare and need your information for any reason, tell them you will call them back. The actual phone number for Medicare is 800-633-4227.

Freebies – You get a phone call offering free medical supplies, and all they need is your Medicare number so they can bill Medicare directly and your credit card info for “a small shipping charge for your supplies” and the address where you want your supplies sent. Now they have all of your information! Anytime someone unsolicited asks for your personal information, it is usually a scam.

No matter the approach they take, these all spell fraud. Medicare fraud is a huge problem, costing taxpayers about $60 billion a year. Remember, the absolutely easiest way to avoid a Medicare scam is to never reveal your card number or other personal or health information to anyone you don’t know. If you need more information on Medicare options during Open Enrollment, or more info on how to stay safe,  just contact Jesse at Adler Insurance, the leading Medicare Insurance Broker in Prescott,  a call at 928-710-1455 or check us out their website at http://www.adlerlifehealth.com.

Don't procrastinate during medicare open enrollment in Prescott - Get the facts from Adler Insurance

Don't procrastinate during medicare open enrollment in Prescott - info from Adler Insurance
Medicare is a great program that provides health coverage for many Americans, but it is complex. Because some parts change every year, you might need to make some changes to make sure you are covered in the coming year. Adler Insurance, your local Prescott Medicare broker, brings you this warning about procrastinating during the Medicare Open Enrollment period.

Changes are a constant in life, sometimes these changes are unpredictable, Medicare Open Enrollment is not one of these however it does not last very long. October 15th to December 7th is the only time you have to adjust your coverage for the next year. It’s important to get things right during this window.

Review your premiums and prescription coverages. Every plan is required to send a notice of changes to participants every year. This notice usually comes in September and lists all of the changes. It can be extensive, so you should start reviewing this notice as soon as it arrives.

Comparison shop for better rates and coverages. If you have reviewed all changes to your plan and find no changes that affect you, you can count yourself lucky. However even with no adjustments, you should use this time to shop for other options and deals, you never know what you might find.

Medicare Part C, or Medigap, or Advantage Plans. Don’t find yourself with a huge surprise next year! These items can change year to year and you should look at these closely. Do you have a doctor you like? We suggest also contacting your doctor or supplemental plan and confirm they are still in the network.

If all of this seems overwhelming, you should ask for help, Medicare brokers can be great councilors during this time of the year. Don’t be late! The December 7th deadline is strictly enforced. There are only very specific situations where changes outside this time of year can take place. Don’t assume you may be allowed to make changes during any other point of the year.

Need help? Adler Insurance offers Medicare Open Enrollment assistance in Prescott and surrounding areas. We help you get the best possible coverage although you must call soon to schedule an appointment. December will be here before you know it. Contact Adler Insurance today by calling 928-710-1455 or visiting http://www.adlerlifehealth.com/ for more information on how we can help.

Adler Insurance discusses the Special Election Period for your Medicare when moving to Prescott

Adler Insurance provides some info on special enrollment periods for your Medicare Insurance in Prescott
Have you recently moved to Northern Arizona? Welcome to the neighborhood! We know that things are busy for you right now, however Adler Insurance – your local Medicare Insurance Broker serving Prescott, Cottonwood, Camp Verde, and Sedona, would like to let you know that you have a limited time to switch your Medicare Plans to Arizona coverage.

What type of Medicare coverage do you have?

If you move here from anywhere from within the USA you should be able to maintain your current Medicare Part A and Part B coverage. If you have a Medicare Advantage Plan or Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D), you will need to review that coverage.

Also, once you have found a doctor in your area, be sure to contact your previous healthcare provider and have them send a copy of your medical records.

Do you have a Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D)?

If you’re enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan, a change such as moving to Arizona could qualify you for a Special Election Period (SEP). During your SEP, usually 60 days, you’re allowed to enroll into a new plan.

If you miss your Special Election Period (SEP)?

If you miss the deadline to enroll in a new Medicare Advantage plan during your SEP, you’ll return to the original Medicare (Part A and Part B). If you’d like to sign up for a new Medicare Advantage plan after your relocation-based SEP is over, you're not out of luck. You will be able to make adjustments during the Annual Election Period (October 15 – December 7).

Do you have a Medicare Supplement Plan (Medigap)?

There are specific rules regarding switching your Medigap Plan. Are you on a standardized plan accepted in AZ? Do local Doctors who accept your plan here? Also, be aware that you might have to pay more for the Medigap plan in Arizona, and you might have to answer some questions about your health history.

There is a lot to take into consideration. We are here to help! Adler Insurance is your local Independent Medicare Insurance Broker in Prescott, Sedona, Cottonwood, and Camp Verde. We are experts on Arizona Medicare Insurance Plans. Contact us today at 928-710-1455 or visit our website at http://www.AdlerLifeHealth.com.

Are you soon turning 65? Adler Insurance in Prescott discusses how he can assist you.

Are you soon turning 65? Adler Insurance in Prescott discusses how he can assist you.Turning 65 typically means you’re eligible for Medicare.  This includes both Part A & B. This federal program provides hospital insurance and some medical insurance to older Americans.  Adler Insurance explains some of your additional options in Prescott:

  • Medicare Part C, also called Medicare Advantage. These plans are available from private insurance companies and must offer the same benefits as Part A & B, but may add more coverage like vision, dental, or prescription drug benefits. It is imperative that you know which private insurance companies are being used in your local area.  You don’t want to sign up for a plan only to find out there aren’t any doctors in town accepting that insurance coverage.
  • Stand-alone Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.  You can add this to your original Medicare to receive prescription medication coverage.
  • Medicare Supplement insurance (known as Medigap) is also available to add to your Medicare coverage and help cover the “gaps” in original Medicare.

First-time Medicare beneficiaries have what is called an Initial Enrollment Period. This period starts three months before your 65th birthday and extends three months afterwards. It’s important to enroll during this time. If you do not enroll during the Initial Enrollment Period, you may incur late fees or have to wait until the General Enrollment Period which is between January 1st to March 31st of the following year.  Your coverage would then begin in July of that year.

If you or your spouse are still working when you turn 65 and you have health insurance through this employer, you might consider delaying enrollment in Part B. You may not wish to pay the Part B premium if you don’t need the coverage. Contact your current employer’s benefits department to see if your employers’ health coverage is sufficient and find out how it might work with Medicare Part B before making a decision.  Call us if you need some help with your decision.

When your employer coverage ends, you will be provided with a Special Enrollment Period that lasts eight months to sign up for Medicare Part B without incurring a penalty.

We encourage you to call us and talk further about your individual Medicare needs in Prescott.  Jessie and Dina Adler at Adler Insurance would love to assist you in making good Medicare decisions.  Please don’t hesitate to call 928-710-1455 or visit our website at http://www.AdlerLifeHealth.com today!

Do you need an insurance agent for medicare?

Adler Insurance in Prescott can helpWith approximately 10,000 people turning 65 every day in the United States, there is a lot of interest in Medicare.  Every day people are searching the internet to learn about the rules, the features, the benefits and the choices they have when it comes to Medicare. These tips are brought to you by Adler Insurance in Prescott, AZ

One of the first questions people often ask of themselves is “Do I need an insurance agent for Medicare?”  Well, Medicare is complicated, the new terms can be confusing at first.  It takes time to learn, especially for those that do not work with insurance every day.  And it is easy to miss important information and to make wrong choices that cost thousands of dollars down the road.

The right insurance agent can help save you time, reduce confusion or the frustration of learning something new and can save you thousands of dollars in medical expenses that you may not be considering when wading knee-deep in Medicare regulation.

What we have found in our many years of experience in the industry is that most people who choose not to seek the help of a professional agent do so because they fear being sold something.  It’s like how people feel when they walk into a car dealership.  They want a car, and they wouldn’t mind some honest help in considering what to purchase, but they don’t want to be “sold” a car.

A second reason for not seeking advice from a professional is the belief that you can get all the information you need on their own.  Well, that is true, the information is available. However, as a wise man once told me; “Knowledge is not wisdom, and wisdom is not experience.”  Anyone can get the knowledge they need from the Medicare & You handbook and the Choosing a Medigap Policy publication.  You can even call Medicare or other government services.  But, none of those sources can pass along what a good professional has learned from experience.

At Adler Insurance we can help take the hassle and confusion out of Medicare! Call us today. 928-710-1455 or visit our website http://www.adlerlifehealth.com

Navigating Medicare Healthcare

Healthcare insurance in prescott - Adler InsuranceIf you've paid into Social Security for 10 years, you qualify for Medicare Part A and Part B at age 65. The healthcare insurance coverage offered through Part A and Part B provides seniors with a safety net against costly illness or injury, however there are some gaps in Medicare coverage that could make signing up for a Medicare Advantage plan the best idea. Adler Insurance brings you these tips for navigating Medicare health plans.

Unlike Part A and Part B Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies, although the total coverage offered by these, plans can differ from insurer to insurer, all Medicare Advantage plans must provide, at a minimum, comparable coverage to what is offered by the government-run Part A and Part B.

What is covered?

Part A Covers
  • Hospitalization

Part B Covers
  • Lab services
  • X-rays
  • Mental health services
  • Other healthcare services

Medicare A and B fall short because they don't provide coverage for prescription medicine. In order to obtain insurance coverage for medicine, seniors can either sign up for a separate drug plan, known as Part D, or enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan that offers drug coverage.

Medicare Advantage plans are a better solution as it covers the gaps in coverage in the Part A and B plans.

Another advantage of Medicare Advantage plans is that they can include more coverage for vision and hearing loss. Part A only pays for vision loss that's associated with a medical emergency or traumatic injury requiring hospitalization and Part B doesn't pay for routine eye exams and only pays for eye glasses if they're required following cataract surgery. Seniors are likely to also pay more for hearing-related health care on traditional Medicare than they do on a Medicare Advantage plan.

Adler Insurance in Prescott can help take the headache out of medicare advantage plans! Call us today 928-710-1455 or visit our Website http://www.adlerlifehealth.com
