Adler Insurance provides more information on Medicare Part D Open Enrollment in Prescott

It's important to compare your options for 2017. Plans have been boosting premiums, increasing cost-sharing, imposing new hurdles before covering expensive medications, charging extra if you don’t use certain preferred pharmacies, and making other changes that could increase your out-of-pocket costs. Adler Insurance provides what you need to know when picking a Medicare Part D plan for 2017 in Prescott.

Don't stay on autopilot. The average monthly premium for Part D is increasing only slightly.  but you could still end up paying a lot more in out-of-pocket costs if your plan increases the co-payments for your drugs or drops them from its formulary (list of covered drugs).
Adler Insurance helps Prescott seniors choose their Medicare Part D plans for 2017.
Find out how much you'll pay for your drugs. Don't just ask if your plan covers your drugs; instead, find out how much you'll pay for your specific medications.

Find out if you can save money at a preferred pharmacy – and if the rules have changed. Most Part D plans now have preferred pharmacies, where you will pay a much lower share of the costs than you would through other pharmacies.

Shop separately from your spouse. You and your spouse might have very different needs, depending on your prescriptions. Each of you should plug your drugs and dosages into the Medicare Plan Finder to see what each of you would pay under the plans in your area.

Adler Insurance in Prescott helps consumers navigate the waters of Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare pays a fixed amount for your care each month to the companies offering Medicare Advantage Plans. These companies must follow rules set by Medicare.  Adler Insurance prepares users for signing up for Medicare Advantage Plans in Prescott.
Adler Insurance talks consumers through Medicare Advantage Plans in Prescott.
However, each Medicare Advantage Plan can charge different out-of-pocket costs and have different rules for how you get services.  Often these rules are subject to change every year.

Medicare Advantage Plans Drug Coverage:
You usually get prescription drug coverage (Part D) through the plan.  You can't have prescription drug coverage through both a Medicare Advantage Plan and a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.

Medicare Advantage Plans and Medigap Plans:
Medigap policies can't work with Medicare Advantage Plans. If you have a Medigap policy and join a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C), you may want to drop your Medigap policy.

What Medicare Advantage Plans Cover:
Medicare Advantage Plans must cover all of the services that Original Medicare covers except hospice care. Original Medicare covers hospice care even if you're in a Medicare Advantage Plan. In all types of Medicare Advantage Plans, you're always covered for emergency and urgently needed care.  Medicare Advantage Plans may offer extra coverage, like vision, hearing, dental, and/or health and wellness programs.

Adler Insurance in Prescott discusses the loss of Medicare Advantage Plans in Prescott

Seven Insurance Companies Under Obamacare Have Pulled Out of the Arizona Marketplace for Next Year, Leaving 13 of the State’s 15 Counties with the Prospect of Just One Provider in 2017.  Up to 2.1 million people will likely have to change plans for 2017 due to insurers leaving states' Affordable Care Act marketplaces, up from more than 1.2 million who had to find new insurers last year.
Federal officials “remain confident” that Arizona residents will have options and Adler Insurance in Prescott wants to discuss options for medicare advantage plans in Prescott.

Phoenix Health Plans have left Arizona and Adler Insurance provides information on how this affects Medicare Advantage Plans in PrescottPhoenix Health Plans is the latest in a string of insurers that have scaled back coverage in Arizona. Phoenix Health Plans joins Aetna, Health Choice, Humana, UnitedHealth, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Health Net, all of which have pulled out or pulled back from an ACA marketplace in Arizona where many were losing money.  These latest assessments show how leery insurers are of the costs and rules associated with selling on the ACA exchanges.

Stephen Briggs, a spokesman for Arizona’s Department of Insurance, said there is little the state can do to lure insurers back into the marketplace.  While the state may not have plans to bring insurers back into the marketplace, U.S. Department of Health and Human Service officials “remain confident that all Arizona residents will have access to coverage next year,” department spokeswoman Marjorie Connolly said in an emailed statement.
